Here is a ‘word cloud’ made of words that my patients used when writing to thank me and say farewell, as I moved from Wiltshire to Edinburgh. It is interesting that they take for granted my professional skills as a competent osteopath and instead focus on personal qualities that make the experience special. Many of the people who were kind enough to write have been patients for more than a decade and often I care for whole families. Their heartfelt messages have made me realise how embedded I have become in peoples lives and how important our relationship is.
As George Eliot said, “Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love”.
