Skilled & Experienced Osteopath
I have been an Osteopath since 1999, registered with the General Osteopathic Council, the regulator in the UK that upholds standards of training and professionalism. I am a member of the Disclosure Scotland Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme, meaning that I am cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults. I am a recommended practitioner with the Pelvic Partnership for treatment during pregnancy.
I have a special interest in the performing arts and I am on the register of the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine. I enjoy helping singers, musicians, actors, comedians and dancers to perform at their best and protect their long term health. Equally important for crew!
I offer gentle, effective osteopathy for everyone from babies to seniors. I like to get to know my patients and what you are going through in your life, so that I can support you to better mental and physical health. It’s not just hands-on treatment, but also listening and helping you to think things through. We can discuss how you might improve your health with exercises, dietary and lifestyle changes.
Training & Professional Development
Since graduating I have devoted much time to my professional development, focusing particularly on cranial osteopathy, including the care of babies, children and pregnant women. I have completed the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy (SCCO) 250 hour Pathway and the Biodynamic Osteopathy standard and paediatric Phases. In 2009 I was awarded an MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London. In 2022 I gained a Level 3 Safeguarding Children qualification.
I graduated from the BSO, now the University College of Osteopathy, as a mature student in 1999, winning the Silver Medal for being the best student in my year. I teach post-graduate osteopathy, particularly about the role of the blood vessels in health. This has become a popular topic since COVID-19 has been recognised as a disease of the vascular endothelium, the lining of the blood vessels. I was a Trustee of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy (SCCO) from 2016-2022 and a member of the Institute of Osteopathy‘s Osteopathic Communications Network committee 2018-2022.
Publications
In 2001 my undergraduate dissertation, “Patient Priorities in Osteopathic Care” was published in the British Osteopathic Journal (2001, vol XXIII, p7-14). In 2017 I had an article published in the peer reviewed International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine (IJOM) about evidence and cranial osteopathy. I also had an article titled “Hearts and Minds – the Mystery of Consciousness” published on a philosophy blog. My case report on a Long Covid patient was published in IJOM in June 2022. I contributed a chapter to The Biodynamics of the Immune System by Michael Shea (Healing Arts Press, 2022) and two chapters to The Biodynamic Heart by Michael Shea (Healing Arts Press, 2025).
